For thousands of years, a meeting between Jupiter and Saturn has been considered a special event the only planetary meeting called a Great Conjunction<\/strong>. It’s a rare type of celestial conjunction between any of the five bright planets that only happens once every two decades or so.<\/p>

Great conjunctions occur approximately every 20 years when Jupiter “overtakes” Saturn in its orbit. They are named “great” for being by far the rarest of the conjunctions between naked-eye planets.<\/p>

Jupiter<\/strong><\/h4>

Saturn<\/strong><\/h4>

On the other hand, Saturn is a planet that represents obstruction, delay, and restriction, but also aims to achieve a higher goal through the hard work involved. It could be seen as “fiery” as it refines those who may otherwise struggle with weak minds or tempers into people with single-minded determination; those who will go on to master their craft and do what must be done even if short-term sacrifices must be made.<\/p>

The rare conjunction<\/strong><\/h4>

Jupiter and Saturn are two giant planets that appear in the night sky all year long. Their annual orbits (paths) around the sun are very different, but they converge roughly every 20 – 25 years to become “nearest neighbors” of one another from our perspective on Earth. This is one of the rarest planetary conjunctions.<\/p>
