Devarshi, Brahmarishi, and Rajarshi are the three categories of rishi listed in Hindu sacred texts. The ultimate class of rishis to emerge from Lord Brahma’s thought is known as a Brahmarshi. Rajarshi is the king turned sage, whereas Devarshi is the sage of all gods.<\/span><\/p>

One of Lord Brahma’s Manasa Putra (mind-born sons) is Brahmarshi Atri. Atri Rishi is one of the Saptarishi’s seven great sages, the other rishis being Marichi, Angiras, Kratu, Pulastya, and Vashista.<\/span><\/p>

The final Saptarishi to emerge from Lord Brahma’s mental manifestation was Rishi Atri. The majority of Vedic literature state that he comes from the tongue. The tongue is frequently associated with knowledge and wisdom in Hinduism. Atri rishi hence possesses the power of sound or speech.<\/span><\/p>

Atri Rishi is mentioned in numerous ancient Vedic texts, including the Rig Veda, Puranas, Ramayana, and Mahabharata. The fifth mandala of the Rig Veda is even named in his honor. Devi Anusuya, the child of the sages Kadam and Devahuti, was wed to Rishi Atri. One of the 7 pativratas (Chaste) female of Hinduism is Devi Anusuya. The divine trinity granted Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh to be born in the family of rishi Atri after many years of severe penance. Atri Gotra is the name of Rishi Atri and Devi Anusuya’s familial lineage. Numerous gods, rulers, rishis, brahmins, Prajapati, and Vaishya are represented in Atri rishi’s family tree. The Lunar dynasty, also known as Chandravansh, was founded by Chandra or Soma and was ruled by kings such as Purava, Aayu, Nahusha, Yathi, Yayati, Samyati, Aayati, Viyati, and Kriti.<\/span><\/p>

The warrior clans of the Atri Gotra also include Turvasu of the Yavanas, Drhyu of the Bhojas, Anu of the Mlecchas, and Puru of the Pauravas (King Poros). Rishi Atri is credited with developing the sacred system of thread known as Poonal, Janivara, or Jandhyam after Deva Guru Brihaspati. The letters A, U, and M, which stand for Beginning (Brahma), Preservation (Vishnu), and Destruction are represented by the three strands of yarn (Shiva). Following the marriage ceremony, the second strand is handed to the couple (representing bhuva Loka), and the third and final strand is offered to the goddess Diksha (representing Suwa or swarga Loka).<\/span><\/p>

Atri Mandala is a unique mandala that belongs to Maharishi Atri. For numerous deities, including Indra, Agni, Ashwini Kumar, and even demigods, he is the first to visualize them and compose songs in their honor. The 87 hymns in the Atri Mandala are in honor of Atri Rishi and his heirs.<\/span><\/p>

Atri Rishi has also made contributions to astrology and medicine. To carry out ceremonies, yajnas, prayers, and meditation, he has created rules, techniques, and mahurat. Sage Atri has produced several writings and formulations for Ayurveda.<\/span><\/p>
