Important Dates & Muhurtas for Karwa Chauth in 2022:
- Date of Karwa Chauth in 2022: October 13, 2022
- The period for Karwa Chauth Puja is from 05:59 to 07:13.
- On Karwa Chauth 2022, the moon will rise around 8:31 pm.
- The beginning of Chaturthi Tithi is at 1:00 am on October 13, 2022.
- On October 14, 2022, at 3:08 am, Chaturthi Tithi comes to an end.
The evening puja is performed, the Karwa Chauth Puja Vidhi is conducted, and all the women observe the fast. A statue of Devi is revered and the puja site is adorned with “khariamatti,” or mud. The women assembling there for puja are told the Karwa Chauth Vrat narrative hours before the moonrise.
Folklore holds that a young female’s breaking of the Karwa Chauth fast before the moonrise had consequences and a negative impact on her husband’s life. After seven Karwa Chauth vrats, her spouse came back to life. At the worship ritual for wedded bliss, this tale is told to the married females, and a brief prayer is uttered.

- For prasad: In a small bowl, put sugar, churma, or halwa.

- Fill the glass or Kalash with water. Phalli (green bean), Ber (berry), Kachar (little cucumber), and Coin should all be added to the water. With crimson thread or moli, cover the Kalash or glass with a red cloth. Karwa is the name of it.
- Before laying the Karwa on a piece of paper or a piece of wood, draw Chand (the crescent moon), Suraj (the sun) on either side, or a swastika in the center, and four tikkis (dots) beneath it to represent Chauth Mata.
- Place statues of Lord Shiva, Parvati, and Ganesh along the wall.
- Apply Kumkum and serve rice and flowers to Ganeshji, Shiva and Parvatiji, Karwa, and Chauth Mata as part of the puja ritual. And turn on the lamps. Offer the prasad of churma, halwa, or sugar from the small bowl.
- Recite the Karwa Chauth legend involving Ganesh.
- When the moon rises, make moon offerings of water, kumkum, chawal, blossoms, etc.
- After that, alternate Karwas between two women seven times. While exchanging Karwa, recite the following:
- The alternative question is JAL DHAPI YA SAWAG DHAPI, and the alternative answer is JAL DHAPI SAWAG NAHI DHAPI.
- Then, to break the fast, one female offers the other karwa (water).
- If you lack the companionship of other women, your spouse can provide you with water.
- Take the Elders’ blessings.
