What is the Logic & Science behind Vastu?

Vastu is a Sanskrit technical term that denotes a “residence”, as per the Mayamatam. Sanskrit word Vastu means a dwelling or house.

Our great sages knew from ages that everything around us affects us, be it anything a living or dead or stone or metal, now modern science has also validated this through different theories.

Now as the impact has been established we may clearly understand that the effect may be positive or negative.
Since we are vulnerable to the negative energies & if at all we get surrounded by these negative energies, we will end up wasting our energies in protecting ourselves from these energies rather than focussing on productive activities.

Knowing this our great sages worked around this and built a set of guidelines keeping in the impact of cosmos, all 10 directions, surroundings, and other variables to ensure less impact from these negative energies.

Thus the science of Vastu guides us about the rules we need to follow to ensure that the structure we build around us has a positive atmosphere. By strictly following these Vastu rules, / we humans can gain quite many benefits and live peacefully. In other words, Vastu rules instruct the ways to create buildings and ‘Living in Harmony with the Earth’.

Vastu Shastra divides a place mainly into nine parts aligning with the directions: North, East, South, West, North-East Corner, South-East Corner, South-West Corner, North-West Corner, and the Center.

Due to the impact of the cosmos, all 9 directions carry energy, and every direction has an element as well.

Now, we must understand how these energies impact us, We all know that a human body is made-up of Panch Tatva, these are Air, Water, Earth, Fire, Space.

The Panch-Tatva’s

Water:

The water element represents all forms of water including emotions and relationships. Any gap here will impact emotions, relationships, liquidity, emotional health. In our body, all fluids come under this element including blood.

Air:

Air denotes all forms of gases including oxygen etc, the air is also responsible for all forms of desires, pains. Imbalance here can take the desires to unjustified levels & humans can easily get into the grip of greed, jealousy. In our body, all gasses come under this.

Earth:

The earth element is the prime element on which we build our premises, this element provides us stability.

Fire:

Fire represents all forms of fire in both sthool and sukshm forms like fire, aggression, aim, vision, Jathraagni, Madaagni, Kaamagni. This fire if in controlled form can give us good directions, if uncontrolled it can lead to destruction.

Space:

The space element is the open area and is known as Bramhaand, in our body this element is primarily responsible for our spiritual growth.

These elements are present in every living being and object in our universe, the percentage quantity of these elements varies and hence each element has one element in the majority.

Thus these elements impact us through their nature & we need a perfect mix to stay in harmony with nature, any misbalance leads to challenges in our life.

Whenever a human gets sick, he goes to Dr to get himself treated because Dr knows the nature of disease and medicine too, similarly a Vastu Vid is required to understand the gap/misbalance and create harmony through deploying the right element in the right direction.
