What Are The Astrological Roles Of Each Planet?

What Are The Astrological Roles Of Each Planet?

As per our Vedic literature, Rishi Parashar was a heavenly sage who received the sacred science of Jyotish (Astrology) from Lord Brahma directly. Astrology shows the connection between the planets and Nakshatras in our lives.

According to Vedic Astrology, there are 9 (7 planets and 2 nodes) planets that rule over 12 zodiac signs which play a major impact on our lives. The placement of planets as per the birth and time of the person decides the character of a person. Each planet has a specific trait, strength, placement, and condition which helps the astrologer to analyze the life of a person. Based on the birth chart an individual experiences good or bad fortune in life.

The 9 planets are divided into Benefic and Malefic as per their natural qualities Jupiter, Venus Moon, Mercury, Moon, and Mercury are benefic planets, Sun as a Cruel planet and Mars, Rahu, Ketu, and Saturn as Malefic planets. Jupiter is the most benefic and Saturn the most malefic of all. These planets share friendly, inimical, or neutral relations. They give results based on the placement, sign, relationship, strength, condition, Mahadasha, and transits.

When these planets aspect or are in conjunction may lose or gain their strength. Rahu Ketu when in conjunction with Sun and Moon can eclipse them.

Sun is the Atmakarak i.e., the significator of the soul. He is a King and represents energy, a fatherly figure, and strong will, authority, ego, and self-respect. A strong Sun in the chart gives honor, status, leadership skills, fame, and power.

Sun is the lord of the 5th sign of the zodiac Leo which is his Mooltrikon sign also. It is exalted (strong) in the Aries sign and debilitated (weak) in the Libra sign. Sun is the male planet and rules the eastern direction. It shares a friendly relationship with Moon, Mars, and Jupiter is neutral with Mercury and has enmity with Saturn, Venus, Rahu, and Ketu.

Moon is the significator of mind and queen of the zodiac. Moon represents the mind and the fastest planet. Moon is a motherly figure who is associated with care, nurturing, emotions and positivity. A strong Moon gives mental power and supports in all walks of life, whereas a weak one can give stress, depression, and an unstable mind.

Moon is the lord of the 4th sign Cancer and its Mooltrikon sign is Taurus. It rules the Northwest direction. It is exalted in the Taurus sign and debilitated in the Scorpio sign. It is considered a feminine planet and shares a friendly relationship with Jupiter, Sun, and Mercury and a neutral relationship with Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and Venus. Moon doesn’t consider any planet as its enemy.

Mercury is the prince is Astrology and the significator of education, speech, and intelligence. It is associated with education, business, knowledge, teacher, and humor. A strong Mercury gives quick learning and thinking abilities as well as wit.

Mercury is the lord of 2 signs Gemini and Virgo, its Mooltrikon sign is Virgo. It is exalted in its sign Virgo and gets debilitated in Pisces. It is a neutral planet and shares friendly or neutral relations with all planets except Moon. Mercury is considered benefic when in association with benefic planets and malefic when with malefics.

Mars is a fiery planet and is considered the commander in chief of the Sun’s army. Mars is associated with energy, physical strength, anger, and conflicts. It represents friends, brothers, athletes, and solider. A well-placed Mars gives the native mental strength, an ability to fight and beat the competition and overcome hurdles in life.

Mars is the lord of Aries and Scorpio which is the 1st and 8th sign as per the Kaal purush chart. It gets exalted in Capricorn sign and debilitated in Cancer sign.

Jupiter is the most auspicious planet in Vedic Astrology. The names that are associated with Jupiter are Jiva, Guru, Brihaspati, and dev guru i.e., teacher or teacher of Gods. Jupiter is the significator of fortune, wealth, fame, luck faith, and devotion.

It is a benefic planet and rules over spirituality and religion. If well placed in the chart Jupiter blesses the native with noble deeds, respect, wealth, progeny, and fruits of his deeds. It is the protector and healer of ailments.

Jupiter is the lord of the 9th sign Sagittarius and the 12th sign Pisces. It is exalted in the Cancer sign and gets debilitated in the Capricorn sign. Jupiter shares a friendly relationship with Sun, Mars, and Moon. Mercury and Venus are its enemies and Saturn is neutral.

Venus is a benefic planet in Astrology representing marriage, comforts, luxury, pleasures, intimacy, and relationships. Venus shows the quality or value we put in a relationship and love. Venus rules over the 5 senses and is associated with entertainment, beauty, arts, fashion, and acting.

He is the Asur guru or the teacher of the demon with feminine energy.

Venus is the lord of the 2nd sign Taurus and the 7th sign Libra. It is exalted in Pisces sign and debilitated in Virgo. Venus is friendly with Mercury, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu.

A strong Venus gives stability and harmony in a relationship, whereas a weak one can give obstacles in married life.

Saturn is the most malefic planet in Vedic Astrology. Saturn is the significator of our karmas, so punishes or blesses us as per our deeds. Saturn is the slowest of all planets and represents service industry, grief, separation, discipline, law, delay, and obstacles. It is associated with chronic diseases, old age, longevity, fear, and anxiety.

Saturn has the power to destroy and delay. A strong Saturn in the chart indicates the ability to endure hardships, a sense of responsibility, and discipline. A weak Saturn indicates difficulties, mental depression, isolation, and addictions.

Saturn is the lord of 2 signs of the Zodiac Capricorn and Aquarius. It is exalted in Libra and debilitated in Aries sign. Saturn shares a friendly relationship with Mercury, Venus, and Rahu, it is neutral with Jupiter.

Rahu and Ketu are the 2 nodes of the Moon. They are the shadow planets and move always in a retrograde position. They travel approximately for 18 months in a sign. They are said to be in smoke form and are imaginary points in the sky. Scriptures have described Rahu as just ahead and nobody. Ketu is a headless body with a tail. They are considered malefic planets that play a key role in life.

Rahu is the north node and is considered the 8th one in the Navagraha. Rahu is the significator of desires, fame, greed, foreign land, and foreigners. He is associated with irreligious persons, outcastes, harsh speech, and falsehood. He has the power to involve in cheating, frauds, fears, illusion, hallucination, and dissatisfaction

A powerful Rahu gives authority, prosperity, diplomatic skills, and success in politics. An afflicted Rahu can give disease, imprisonment, and legal issues.

Ketu is the southern node and the last among Navagraha. It is associated with detachment from worldly matters, spirituality, and salvation. It represents hidden enemies, dangers, and occult sciences.

If Ketu is well placed gives good intuition, wisdom, and spiritual tendencies. If ill-placed give worries and lack of concentration. It is the planet that helps to attain Moksha or liberation.

Both Rahu and Ketu give unexpected results and are part of the same body. They are both enemies of the Sun and Moon and can eclipse them.
